Everything gets better when you get active! Moving your Body every day in your way, improves your mental and physical health. Being physically active can improve your mental health by building positive self-esteem, improving quality of sleep, decreasing stress and symptoms of anxiety and depression. It can also help with brain development, creativity, learning, and concentration. Being active also improves your physical health by improving your balance, coordination, muscular strength, endurance and your cardiovascular health. Overtime if you stick with it, it will help decrease the development of chronic diseases and maintain a long-term quality of life. There are also many social health benefits including our ability to learn new skills and create positive connections with others through physical activity.  Being active has a lot of benefits!

 

As you will see in the health benefits timeline below the benefits to your mental and physical health are intertwined and develop as you stick with it.  In one single bout of physical activity the number one benefit you will experience are improvements to your mental health. It improves how you feel by balancing your brains neurotransmitters and the bodies hormones.
